Zoi Argyriou is a passionate and dedicated percussionist, musician, and performer born in Trikala, Greece. From a very young age, she showed a strong interest in classical music and soon turned toward contemporary music, where she now specialises as a soloist, chamber musician, and improviser. Her artistic practice focuses on extended techniques and unconventional forms of expression. Her search for challenging learning opportunities led her to Germany and Switzerland, where she worked closely with renowned teachers, musicians, and composers of our time.

 

Zoi holds a Master’s degree in Specialized Music Performance – Contemporary Music from the Hochschule der Künste Bern, a Master’s degree in Timpani and Solo Percussion from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Science and Art with a specialisation in Percussion from the University of Macedonia.

 

Throughout her career, she has performed with notable ensembles and orchestras in Greece and abroad. Important collaborations include performances with Schlagquartett Köln, Kommas Ensemble, Collegium Novum Zürich, the Athens Philharmonic, and Kollektiv3:6Koeln, of which she is also a member. She is a founding member of the newly formed percussion duo “Octa.” Her performance projects include recording Enno Poppe’s Schrauben at WDR Funkhaus and appearances at MITO SettembreMusica, Ruhrtriennale, and Usinesonore Festival.

 

Zoi has worked with composers such as Enno Poppe, Fritz Hauser, John Psathas, Christos Hatzis, Caspar Johannes Walter, Fabio Nieder, Malin Bång, Georgia Koumara, and Sara Glojnaric, as well as with distinguished musicians and professors including Brian Archinal, Carlos Tarcha, Dirk Rothbrust, Thomas Meixner, Achim Seyler, Boris Müller, and more.
